With Gratitude.

As June comes to a close, so does The Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s fiscal year, which means, we also say good-bye to Board Members who are terming off.  This year we bid farewell to five incredible Board Members, including our Board Chair, one of the first men to join the AWF Board, and three Members who have been supporters of AWF long before they joined the Board.  Please help us in thanking these amazing volunteer leaders!

Deborah Goodman was never afraid to roll up her sleeves as a Board Member. She served on the Finance & Investment Committee for six years and two of those years she chaired the Committee and served as Treasurer.  In addition to her leadership roles, Deborah could be seen at most AWF events, whether showing her support as a sponsor or a hands on volunteer like at our Yogathon fundraising event.  She also served as the AWF liaison to one of our long-time supporters, Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).  Deborah always made a point to show the staff her appreciation as well.

Bill Jennings joined the AWF Board as one of our first male Board Members and served with great aplomb and as a supportive ally.  He brought his financial know-how to the Finance & Investment Committee, serving on it for six years.  He even came out on the very hot day of our first Yogathon to participate and demonstrate his yoga abilities!  We will definitely miss his enthusiasm and the stylish hats he is known to wear.

Becky Powhatan Kelley has been involved with AWF for almost 20 years! In addition to her board service, she has been particularly active with our Women in Law event, serving as co-chair for three years and on the planning committee for too many years to count.  She also served on the Mission (Grant) Committee for two years, the Public Policy and Community Education Committee for four years, and the Development Committee for one year. Becky has been a dedicated champion for women and girls and we are grateful for her energy, attention to details, and passion for AWF’s mission.

Tish McDonald has been a supporter of AWF for over 20 years and a dedicated leader during her board tenure.  In addition to serving as Board Chair for two years, she was also Board Secretary for one year, co-chaired the Mission (Grant) Committee for a year and served on it for a total of three years, and sat on the Development Committee for one year.  Tish is a tireless cheerleader for AWF and the staff, helping to promote all of AWF’s event and programs, particularly our newest leadership program, Inspire Atlanta. We are incredibly grateful for Tish’s leadership and passion!

Lisa Cannon Taylor’s involvement with AWF goes back almost 25 years! Advocate, cheerleader, graphic designer, event host, event chair, and all-around champion of women and girls, Lisa’s commitment to AWF and our mission is woven through every part of the organization.  In addition to serving on the Mission (Grant) Committee for five years and the Development Committee for 3 years, co-chairing for one year, hosting donor recognition events, and designing the Catalyst Society and Yogathon logos, she also helped launch Yogathon and chaired it for two years.  Yogathon brought together two of Lisa’s passions – yoga and supporting women and girls – into one fundraising event that brought greater brand awareness of AWF across metro Atlanta. Thank you Lisa for your tireless efforts to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in our community!

While we never let exiting Board Members get very far away, we are incredibly thankful to Deborah, Bill, Becky, Tish, and Lisa for sharing their time, talents, and treasure with us for these last six years!
