TWO-GENERATION
INITIATIVE
Empowering Mothers. Enriching Children. Building Family Futures.
When women rise, their children rise with them. AWF’s Two-Generation Initiative invests in programs that simultaneously support young mothers and their children—laying the groundwork for lasting, intergenerational success.
Launched in 2023 with support from the Liz Blake Giving Fund, this initiative funds nonprofits delivering wraparound services for families experiencing poverty, housing insecurity, or instability. Programs blend early childhood education, mental health care, career development, and stability services—because supporting one generation is powerful, but supporting two is transformative.

2025–2026 Investment
AWF is investing $180,000 in nonprofit partners serving Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties:
Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter, Families First, Inc., Our House, Inc., Quality Care for Children
Projected Impact AWF’s funding is forecasted to support:
- 137 women and children across metro Atlanta
- Mothers gaining employment, earning degrees, and accessing mental health care
- Children receiving early learning, developmental screenings, and nutritious meals
- Families transitioning into stable housing and long-term self-sufficiency
Why Two-Generation (2Gen) Matters
When women thrive, so do their children. The two-generation model breaks cycles of poverty, promotes healthy development, and fosters stability that lasts a lifetime.
