Women on Board Program

Because lasting change can only be created by empowering women and girls to realize their full potential, The Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF) engages and educates women as leaders through its Women on Board (WOB) program. Created in 2000, the program was designed to increase the number of women on nonprofit boards in Metro Atlanta by providing effective board governance training to Atlanta women and by acting as an advocate and intermediary between program participants and registered nonprofit organizations.

Since its inception, the program has trained over 1,500 women in board governance and leadership skills, placed over 230 women on nonprofit boards and government commissions, and made over 700 referrals for board placement. Currently, there are 300 nonprofit organizations registered with the Woman on Board program. The Atlanta Women's Foundation gratefully acknowledges UPS for their support of this program.
